Unboxing: Unplugged Book Box – July 2019 – Stars are Only Visible in Darkness

Hello everyone! Here is my unboxing of the July Unplugged Book Box. The theme was “Stars are Only Visible in Darkness.” It’s the second of the three Summer Solstice Boxes, and features the second collectible enamel pin!

Just as a disclaimer, I am a rep for Unplugged Book Box and received this box for free, but I wasn’t required to make this post. All opinions are my own. If you want to get a 3, 6, or 12 month subscription, my code STARUNPLUG10 will save you 10%!

Now, without further ado, it’s time for the unboxing!

Review

I think that I liked this box even more than the June Box! I typically don’t think of bug repellent and sunscreen as self care products, but when I really think about it, they are! (Bug bites and sunburns are no fun, so preventing them is definitely self care.)

My favorite item is definitely the cooler! It’s the perfect size to double as a lunch bag. The quote on the outside definitely speaks to me (I overthink the past way too much) so it’s a great reminder. Also, as some with 6 pet parakeets, the birdcage design totally appeals to me.

I also love the candle! It’s a tiny 2 oz one, but the labels are gorgeous, and so is the glitter on it! This is another favorite from the box! It also smells so good!

As mentioned earlier, their are two self care items in this box! The bug repellent bar contains natural essential oils that are good at repelling bugs, which I like because it doesn’t have harmful chemicals. The SPF 30 sunscreen is pretty small, but I think it would be good to keep in purse for days when you find yourself outside in the sun for longer than you expected. If you’re going to the beach or having a picnic, you should probably get a bigger bottle with a higher SPF.

I was honestly a bit stumped with the enamel pin this month! My brother told me that it’s Captain America themed, which makes sense because my Marvel knowledge is seriously lacking. It’s a pretty pin regardless! The red parts are glittery!

Lastly, our book of the month is The Chosen by Taran Matharu. Once again, the Unplugged Book Box team has picked a seriously underrated book, and I love it! (So many other boxes feature the same popular books, which makes for a lot of overlap.) I had actually added this book to my TBR last month, so I’m so excited to have it! As usual, it comes with an author letter and signed book plate.

The Verdict

I really liked the box! Even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of all of the fandoms in this box, it’s more about the items themselves than the fandoms. Even though I don’t like GoT, I can use the sunscreen. Even though I’m not a Marvel fan, that gorgeous pin is definitely going on my pin flag. That’s one thing I really love about Unplugged Book Box, in addition to their super positive message of self care and mental health!

All in all, I give the July Unplugged Book Box a 4.5/5!
